Music, Media Art and Performance

About

SnowKrash is collaborative dispute over the relationship of sound to sight. Since 2009 Ursel Quint (Ger) and Barry L. Roshto (USA/Ger) have been exploring different aspects of this link through the process of producing and presenting original audio-visual works. Whether they are recording the underwater sound of rivers, taking EKG’s of bridges, pipelines or trees, sonifying the electromagnetic fields of their environment or composing film music, they are constantly trying to circumvent the usual.

Electronic media is used and abused, broken, hacked, laid bare. New instruments are built when necessary. There are no dogmas. If there are “messages”, they are just catalysts for situations, in which the observer’s experiences and revelations become their own solutions and commentaries.

Artistic Statements

All of our work is Zeit (Engl:Time)/site-specific. The German word „Zeit“ and the English word „site“ are pronounced almost the same. So, the original statement is a play on words. Time and Space. Time-specific relates to the dramaturgy of the evening or where we are in our lives as artists. Site-specific is about the characteristics of the performance space.
